Gavi Yatra

Way towards gavi was also not much different, as usual it started out of the 4 th peg at Highway gardens , a beautiful loan bar in kochi, And our glorious i10, rushed towards the mountains, with back ups nothing much than 2 bottles of rum.

The curves, ups and downs thrilled the stearing, we took a short dinner break at a "thattukada", surprisingly the cook was an old film star, most of the time those who glimpse through as extras in many moovies struggle to meet the first end of life.

Well rather the rum carried us towards gavi, Night was sleepy and chilling, as we pierced through the mist and shola forest poured darkness on us. watch ticked Its 3, and we passed kumali and the silence of gavi pulled us towards her, at a nearby small waterfall, we decided to finish the night in the car itself.

A much needed morning tea, little time under waterfall, still hangover, I had no hope to that we gonna make it to the gavi, as usual by the time we reached the entry time was over, don’t waist your time , forest guard adviced, but seasoned travelers like us always knew, when there is a will there is a way.

Just zipped a tea from the nearby local tea shop hoping someone gonna come with some solutions, few more minutes of desperation, but then the eyes met, a local man, we just started talking, about our unluck and as the talks grew he agreed to find some way to get in to the forest. Some talks over the phone and we rented a Jeep , stuffed it with food n water, jeep jumped in to the curvey forest roads.

Found our spot for the night stay on an abandoned house in the hills, its been used by the forest guards and police to guard shabarimala at the time of piligrimage season, but of season its been abandoned most of the time, shabarimala was visible deep down, some few devotes pass through this deep forest and hills to see Lord Ayyappa. The Lonely hills spread through the sky and mysterious mist hugged the greenery tightly. The world and its business looked as just nothing when we embarked this beauty of nature, darkness added color to our camp fire, the lonely elephants cried for friendship and the forest had its own background scores, fire faded and the night lured us.

Golden rays lurked in through heavy mist and the lazy morning kicked its starter, Up in the cold air aimless as the wind, shivering in the mist, birds are out for singing, bulls are out for feeding, elephants ! well dringking , all got there on goals, I was among those few free, where goals never mattered and each moment is lived full. As the morning grew we decided to pack u and call it an End. Jeep slithered through the hill road, but still mind was there only and dreams still shows those shining eyes of deer which looked like falling stars in that beautiful night
